AION 2 Early Access Pre-Download Opens September 28, Two Days Ahead of the September 30 Start

On September 26, 2026 at 12:45 AM PDT, the AION 2 Official YouTube channel published a Short titled "[AION 2] Early Access Pre-Download". Its description reads in full: "Your journey to Atreia starts here. Early Access Pre-Download starts 9/28 at 6:00AM PDT. Unlock Early Access now through Founder's Pack!" That is the whole announcement — no notice-board post, no Steam news entry, and no FAQ update accompany it as of this writing.

6:00 AM PDT on September 28 is 13:00 UTC the same day. That is two full days before Founder's Pack Early Access itself opens on September 30, and the same lead time NC gave the free Launch Scale Test, which pre-downloaded from September 16 for a September 17-18 test.

This is the first pre-download window NC has published for anything past the Launch Scale Test. Our download guide has carried an explicit open question since August 31 — "NC has not announced a pre-download window for Early Access on September 30 or for launch itself" — and this Short closes half of it. NC still has not said whether the October 5 free-to-play launch gets its own separate pre-download, or whether the same September 28 download simply carries forward for players who buy a Founder's Pack later or skip Early Access entirely.

The Short's call to action — "Unlock Early Access now through Founder's Pack" — ties the pre-download to pack ownership, but NC has not said the client itself is gated behind a purchase. Every prior AION 2 download on Steam and PURPLE has been open to install ahead of time regardless of entitlement, with the pack only unlocking play at the access date, so the safest reading is that September 28 is when the Early Access client becomes installable for everyone planning to play from September 30, not a pack-holders-only download.

Steam and PURPLE have historically been separate downloads for AION 2 — the Launch Scale Test ran on a dedicated "AION 2 Playtest" Steam app (id 4972320) distinct from the base game page (id 3393110), and NC's own notice told Steam testers to uninstall that client afterward and download again separately for Early Access. NC's Short does not say whether September 28's download uses the base Steam page, the Founder's Pack page (id 4972180), or another dedicated client, and neither Steam app's listing had been updated with a pre-download field as of this writing.

If you already own a Founder's Pack, the practical takeaway is simple: check Steam or PURPLE from 6:00 AM PDT (13:00 UTC) on September 28 for an install option, so the client is ready before Early Access opens on September 30.

Nothing about the confirmed dates changes: Founder's Pack Early Access still runs September 30 through October 4, and the free-to-play launch is still October 5, 2026, and NC has since announced the hour for both: servers open at 13:00 UTC on September 30 and on October 5. September 28's pre-download is a new, earlier date slotted in front of that window, and it lands the same week as two other published AION 2 livestreams: an "Early Access Launch Celebration" broadcast on September 30 and the ongoing War for Atreia creator event, both covered on our War for Atreia schedule page.

We'll update this page if NC publishes a separate pre-download window for the October 5 launch itself, or clarifies whether the September 28 download requires a Founder's Pack.
