AION 2 Early Access Explained: Servers, Markets & PvP Rules

NC posted a five-section 'Team Update' notice to the official AION 2 notice board on July 17, 2026, detailing how Founder's Pack Early Access will work: an initial wave of Early Access Servers, a second wave of Launch Servers, region-wide dungeon party matching, Abyss matchmaking between Early Access servers only during EA, a Server Market available from day one versus a Cross-Server Market that opens only after release, and a committed — but not yet detailed — Server Transfer Service.

What NC posted

On July 17, 2026 at 16:00 UTC, the AION 2 team published a "Team Update" notice titled "Early Access: How It Will Work" directly to the official notice board at aion2.plaync.com — a direct follow-up to the July 8 Business Model notice ("Thank you for the questions and feedback since last week's update"). It walks through five numbered sections: Early Access Servers and Launch Servers, Dungeon Party Matching, PvP and The Abyss, The Market, and Server Transfers.

The July 8 notice had only footnoted that Founder's Pack early-access servers keep "separate Markets, Exchanges, and PvP matching for a period." This notice spells out the actual mechanics behind that line.

Two server waves: Early Access Servers and Launch Servers

When Early Access starts, NC will open an initial wave of world servers called Early Access Servers. Only players who purchased any tier of Founder's Pack can access them initially. At official launch, a second wave — Launch Servers — opens, and players will be able to choose their preferred server. Players who did not purchase Early Access will also be able to join Early Access servers, "if those servers remain open and available at launch."

Elyos and Asmodian servers are separate, as NC has stated before; the factions meet in The Abyss for PvP. Nothing in the notice changes the 5-day Early Access head start confirmed with Founder's Packs on July 8.

Party matching and Abyss PvP during Early Access

Dungeon party matching is region-wide from the start: during Early Access, players match for parties across all Early Access servers in a given geographical region, so finding a group is never limited to a single server. At launch, the matching pool expands to include both Early Access and Launch servers in the same region.

Abyss PvP is more segregated: during Early Access, Abyss matchmaking occurs between Early Access servers only. After launch, NC will match servers "based on how far along and how strong each server is," so players face servers at a similar stage in the game — progression-based server matchmaking rather than a permanent EA/launch split.

Two Markets — and the Cross-Server Market is not available at launch

The notice formalizes a split NC had not previously detailed: AION 2 has a Server Market and a Cross-Server Market. The Server Market is your world's local trading hub — buy and sell with other players on your server using Kina — and it is available from the very start of Early Access and remains available after launch.

The Cross-Server Market connects players across all servers within your region, also trading in Kina with a much larger pool of buyers and sellers — but it will not be available at the start of Early Access or at launch. NC will open it "after release, once participating servers have reached a similar stage in the game," with more details promised before it opens. Note the July 8 notice's Membership requirement for Market and Exchange trading was not restated here; this notice covers server scope, not access rules.

Server transfers are committed, details pending

NC says it is "committed to enabling the AION 2 Server Transfer Service." Following Early Access and launch, the team will evaluate server occupancy levels with the goals of alleviating congestion and streamlining related experiences, with details promised in a dedicated announcement "in the near future." In the meantime, friends who start on different servers can still party up for dungeons via the region-wide matching pool and add each other as friends.

As of July 17, 2026, the Early Access start date itself is still unannounced — the global launch remains September 2026, with Founder's Packs granting a 5-day head start.

Frequently asked questions

  • Who can play on AION 2 Early Access Servers?

Initially, only players who purchased any tier of Founder's Pack. Per NC's official July 17, 2026 notice, Early Access Servers open when Early Access starts; at official launch, everyone can join the new Launch Servers, and non-Founder players can also join Early Access servers if those remain open and available at launch.

  • Will Early Access players share dungeons and PvP with launch players?

Dungeons: yes — at launch the party-matching pool covers both Early Access and Launch servers in the same region (during EA it spans all EA servers in the region). Abyss PvP: during Early Access, matchmaking is between Early Access servers only; after launch, servers are matched by how far along and how strong they are.

  • What is the difference between AION 2's Server Market and Cross-Server Market?

The Server Market is your server's local Kina trading hub, available from the very start of Early Access. The Cross-Server Market connects all servers in your region for Kina trading with a larger pool — but it will not be available at the start of Early Access or at launch. NC opens it after release, once participating servers reach a similar stage.

  • Will AION 2 have server transfers?

NC says it is committed to enabling the AION 2 Server Transfer Service and will evaluate server occupancy after Early Access and launch to alleviate congestion. Details are promised in a dedicated announcement; no dates or rules were given in the July 17, 2026 notice.
