Aion 2 Release Date
Aion 2 launches globally on Monday, October 5, 2026, on PC via Steam and NC's PURPLE launcher — a date NC announced with a Global Release Date Trailer at gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026, and reflected in Steam's release field. Founder's Pack Early Access runs September 30 to October 4, and a free Launch Scale Test open to anyone via Steam runs September 17-18 with pre-download from September 16. The move out of the previously stated September window is being reported as a delay; NC has not explained it. The game is already live in Korea and Taiwan, where it launched on November 19, 2025.

When is the Aion 2 global release date?
Monday, October 5, 2026. NC announced the day on stage at gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026, with a Global Release Date Trailer published the same day to the AION 2 Official YouTube channel, and the official Steam store page's release field now reads October 5, 2026 — replacing the “September 2026” label it had carried since July. The global service launches free-to-play on PC through Steam and NC's PURPLE launcher, with regional servers in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Our full write-up of the October 5 announcement covers the sourcing, the delay framing, and what the date does and does not settle.
Two dates sit in front of it. A free Launch Scale Test — a server-stability test open to anyone who signs up on Steam — runs September 17 to 18, with pre-download from September 16. Founder's Pack Early Access then runs September 30 through October 4, five days, ending the day before launch. Everything below this point is the history of how the date firmed up, kept for reference.
The rest of this section is superseded but preserved: it records what was official before August 25, 2026, and why we treated the day as unannounced until NC named it.
September 2026. On June 5, 2026, NCSOFT (which now brands itself simply as “NC”) premiered the official Aion 2 Launch Reveal Trailer during Summer Game Fest, and the official AION 2 channel states it plainly: “Launching globally this September.” That narrows the previous “second half of 2026” guidance to a specific month for the first time. The exact calendar day has not been announced yet — the official Steam store page shows a “Planned Release Date: September 2026” label as of July 13, 2026 (narrowed from the earlier generic “2026”) — so treat it as September 2026, day TBA.
One signal that came and went: as of June 22, 2026, NCSOFT's own PURPLE platform page for AION 2 Global listed a “Release Date” of September 17, 2026. PURPLE is an official NC storefront, so this was not a third-party rumor — but a storefront date field is not a formal announcement, and as of July 13, 2026 that date field has been removed from the PURPLE page entirely. No press release or trailer has ever named September 17, and no outlet corroborated it. We treat September 17 as unconfirmed, and currently no official storefront shows a specific day.
Update (July 22, 2026): the launch day can now be bounded from an official source. NC's Founder's Pack notice — which put the packs on sale at $24.99/$49.99/$99.99 on Steam and PURPLE — states that the 5-day Founder's Pack advance access begins September 30 and runs for 5 days, and Steam's pre-purchase listings carry the matching “Advance Access — Starts 30 Sep” label. Taken literally, that places the full free-to-play launch in early October 2026, not September — yet Steam's release field still reads “September 2026,” and NC has not announced the official launch day or addressed the discrepancy. Until it does, the honest status is: Early Access September 30 (official), full launch day unannounced but implied early October.
Update (August 10, 2026): two further beats have come and gone without a date. NC's first global community livestream on August 7 covered party sizes, servers, pets and Founder's Pack changes but named no launch day, and the company's August 6 announcement that AION 2 will appear at gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25 did not either. Steam still reads “September 2026” as of August 10. A number of aggregator sites are now publishing “October 5, 2026” as a confirmed launch day; we have found no NC source and no reputable outlet behind it, so we continue to treat the day as unannounced. Opening Night Live, five weeks out from Early Access, is the obvious venue for the real announcement.
Update (August 14, 2026): NC's Q2 2026 investor call on August 11 came and went without a launch day too, but it did add one scheduling signal worth recording. Co-CEO Park Byung-moo told analysts NC is "adjusting schedules and testing, especially as Aion 2 Global coincides with the November release of GTA6," and that roughly ten NC titles will ship between the second half of 2026 and the end of 2027, beginning with AION 2 Global. No AION 2 date was moved on that call — Steam still reads "September 2026" and the Founder's Pack listings still say Advance Access starts 30 September, both re-checked August 14. Read alongside a September 30 head start, an early-October launch would sit comfortably ahead of a November GTA 6. Our write-up of the Q2 earnings call covers the GTA 6 remark, the July–August player-number recovery in Korea and Taiwan, and the still-unsigned China contract in full.
This confirmation caps a steady drumbeat of official guidance: NC’s April 2026 newsroom post confirmed Aion 2 is “launching this year on PC” for the global/Western market, NCSOFT had guided to the second half of 2026 (H2 2026) around that same announcement cycle, and the company promoted its Summer Game Fest appearance in advance as the venue for a new trailer and key info. As always with MMO launches, the month could still shift — but September 2026 is now the official, publicly stated target.
Update (August 31, 2026) — the position above is closed. Opening Night Live delivered exactly what we expected it to: on August 25 NC premiered a Global Release Date Trailer naming Monday, October 5, 2026, and the Steam release field was updated to match. The “October 5” date we had been declining to repeat because we could not source it turned out to be right, and is now official; our caution on it was correct at the time and is no longer warranted. Gematsu, Massively Overpowered, MMORPG.com and Niche Gamer all reported the announcement from NC directly, with several framing the move out of September as a delay — a characterisation NC itself has not used and has not explained. NC also scheduled a free Launch Scale Test on September 17-18, which answers the “will there be a Western test?” question that sat open on this page for months.
Regions, platforms and languages
The global version is announced as a PC release distributed through Steam and NCSOFT’s own PURPLE launcher. It is free-to-play and will be hosted on regional servers in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, so players get local infrastructure rather than connecting to Korea. (NCSOFT’s April 2026 announcement had named Japan as the fourth server region; the official June 5, 2026 launch press release broadens it to Asia.) The client supports 10 languages — English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese — as listed on the official Steam page.
Update (August 1, 2026): the “Asia” server region does not include mainland China, which is licensed and operated separately. On July 30, 2026 NC signed a strategic partnership with Shengqu Games to publish AION 2 in China as 永恒之塔2 — a distinct service on Shengqu's own servers, with its schedule stated as “to be announced later.” That deal does not change the global launch timeline on this page in any way, and no account or progress transfer between the Chinese and global services has been announced.
Korea & Taiwan launch history
It is important to separate the global launch from the already-live Korean and Taiwanese release. Aion 2 launched in Korea and Taiwan at midnight on November 19, 2025, a date NCSOFT confirmed in its official press release, with pre-registration having opened September 11, 2025 and pre-character creation starting November 16, 2025. That KR/TW release runs on both PC and mobile. The game has been live in its home regions for over six months as of this writing — but that build, its servers, and its store are separate from the upcoming global service, and no progress carry-over to global has been announced.
What we still don’t know
As of August 31, 2026 the big one is finally settled: the launch day is October 5, 2026, the Early Access window is September 30 to October 4, and a Western test exists in the September 17-18 Launch Scale Test. What remains open is smaller and more operational — timings, carry-over rules, and the test's own restrictions. Precise cash-shop contents and membership pricing beyond the announced $15/month figure also remain undetailed, so we list these as open questions rather than facts.
- The launch-day unlock time and any launch-day maintenance window for October 5, 2026 — NC announced the date but not the hour, and has not said whether all four server regions open simultaneously.
- Whether Early Access characters created between September 30 and October 4 remain on the same servers at the October 5 launch, beyond the Early Access Server / Launch Server split NC described in its July 17 notice.
- Whether the September 17-18 Launch Scale Test wipes progress, and what its level cap and content scope are — figures circulating on aggregator sites are not traceable to an NC source.
- Whether the global version will include mobile or console; it is currently announced as a PC release (Steam + PURPLE).
- Whether progress or characters from Korea/Taiwan transfer to global — no carry-over has been announced.
- NC's reason for moving the launch out of September. The date changed; no explanation was published with it.
How to get ready
The date is set, so the useful actions have changed from waiting to preparing. Wishlist Aion 2 on Steam so you are notified when it goes live on October 5, and sign up for the September 17-18 Launch Scale Test on the same Steam page if you want to try the game first — it is free, needs no invite code and no Founder's Pack, and pre-download opens September 16. If you intend to play the September 30 head start, buy the Founder's Pack on the platform you actually want to play on, because access is locked to it and there is no upgrade path on Steam.
Beyond that, check your PC against the published system requirements before test weekend rather than during it, and follow the official AION 2 channels and notice board for the launch-day unlock time, which NC has not yet published. Status as of August 31, 2026: global PC launch confirmed for October 5, 2026 on Steam and PURPLE.

The launch is free-to-play on PC via Steam and PURPLE, with servers in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Founder's Pack owners start five days earlier, on September 30.
Was Aion 2 delayed?
The launch moved out of September. NC's June 5, 2026 Launch Reveal Trailer said Aion 2 was launching globally in September 2026 and Steam carried a September 2026 label until August 25, when the confirmed date became October 5, 2026. Outlets including Gematsu and Niche Gamer reported this as a delay. NC did not use that word and has not published a reason for the change.
When does Aion 2 Early Access start?
September 30, 2026, running five days through October 4 and ending the day before the October 5 launch. The September 30 start was confirmed in NC's official July 22, 2026 Founder's Pack notice and matched by the “Advance Access — Starts 30 Sep” label on Steam. Access requires a Founder's Pack ($24.99/$49.99/$99.99) and is limited to the platform where the pack was bought.
Is there an Aion 2 beta or test before launch?
Yes. NC announced a Launch Scale Test running September 17-18, 2026, with pre-download from September 16. It is a server and infrastructure stability test open to anyone who signs up on Steam — no invite code and no Founder's Pack required. NC has not published the test's level cap, content scope or progression-wipe policy.

What platforms will the global Aion 2 be on?
The global version is announced as a PC release, available on Steam and NCSOFT’s PURPLE launcher, and free-to-play. No console release has been announced for the global market, and a global mobile version has not been officially confirmed (the existing Korea/Taiwan version does include mobile).
Which regions and languages does the global version support?
Servers will be hosted regionally in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, per NCSOFT’s June 5, 2026 launch press release. The game supports 10 languages: English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
Will my Korea/Taiwan progress carry over to the global server?
No carry-over has been announced. The global service is planned to run on separate regional servers (NA, SA, EU, Asia) from the existing KR/TW version. NCSOFT has not stated that characters or progress will transfer, so you should not assume they will.
