Aion 2 Download & Servers

As of August 31, 2026 you cannot yet download the global version of Aion 2 — it has not launched in the West. The official Steam store page is live at store.steampowered.com/app/3393110 (Steam app ID 3393110), where the game is listed as developed and published by “NC”, now carries an October 5, 2026 release date, and shows a Wishlist button rather than a buy/download button. NC has confirmed two PC distribution channels for the global launch: Steam, and NC's own PURPLE launcher (the Aion 2 Global PURPLE page is at purple.plaync.com/game/aion2global). When the game goes live you will install it through one of those two clients on Windows PC.

There is one earlier download, though. NC's free Launch Scale Test on September 17-18 opens pre-download on September 16 at 6:00 AM PDT, on both Steam and PURPLE — open to everyone, with no keys, no invites and no registration list, per NC's notice. That is the first legitimate AION 2 client Western players can actually install.

Note that on Steam it is a separate client. NC's notice states that Steam players must uninstall the Playtest App after the test and download AION 2 separately for Advance Access on September 30 — the test entry does not update into the retail one. PURPLE players have no further steps.

Monday, October 5, 2026. NC announced the day at gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026 with a Global Release Date Trailer, and Steam's release field was updated to match, replacing the “September 2026” label it had carried since July. Three dates matter for downloading: September 16 (Launch Scale Test pre-download), September 30 (Founder's Pack Early Access begins, running through October 4), and October 5 (free-to-play launch for everyone). NC has not published a launch-day unlock time or a pre-download window for Early Access or launch.

The global version is PC-native and Windows-only on the Steam page (Windows 10/11, 64-bit), built on Unreal Engine 5, with 100 GB of storage listed in the requirements. NCSOFT has been explicit that the global build is “built specifically for PC” and that it “invested deeply in building a version suited for global PC players.” That framing is notable because the existing Korea/Taiwan service is cross-platform (PC and mobile) — a Western mobile client has not been officially confirmed, so for now plan on PC for the global release.

NCSOFT has announced that the global service will run on locally hosted servers in four regions — North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. (The April 2026 announcement had named Japan as the fourth region; the official June 5, 2026 launch press release broadens it to Asia.) The company highlighted local hosting as a deliberate choice for lower latency, but it has not published the specific data-center cities, nor a final policy on how players are routed between these regional servers. The game ships localized into 10 languages: English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese.

There is no Oceania region. In a statement published September 1, 2026, NC confirmed the global launch ships without an Oceania server and narrowed the fourth region back to Japan, suggesting instead that Oceania players use the Taiwanese build, which it says supports English — a separate, region-restricted service. Japan is the nearest global region to Australia and New Zealand, and NC has not said whether an Oceania server could follow after launch.

Be careful to separate the two services. The version live since November 19, 2025 is the Korea/Taiwan service, and it is region/IP-restricted — players outside those territories are generally blocked at the login server and resort to third-party tools or VPNs to connect (which can carry account-ban and security risks and may violate NCSOFT’s terms of service; this site does not recommend bypassing official region restrictions). The forthcoming NA/SA/EU/Asia global servers are a separate launch from that service, so once they go live you will not need the Korea/Taiwan version. NCSOFT has not yet published a formal region-lock policy for the global servers themselves.

NCSOFT has said the global version will be free-to-play, with monetization focused on memberships and cosmetics rather than randomized loot boxes, and described as less aggressive than Throne and Liberty. Note that the Korea/Taiwan launch drew heavy criticism over pay-to-win items at release (some were pulled after an apology), so the final Western monetization details are worth watching. Exact prices and storefront specifics for the West have not been published.
