AION 2 Will Not Have an Oceania Server at Global Launch
NCSOFT has confirmed, in a statement published September 1, 2026, that AION 2's global launch will not include an Oceania server. The studio reaffirmed the four regions it will run on October 5, 2026 — North America, South America, Europe and Japan — plus continued support for the existing Korea and Taiwan builds, and suggested that Oceania players use the Taiwanese version, which it says supports English. That is a separate, region-restricted service with no announced transfer to or from the global version. Japan remains the nearest global region to Australia and New Zealand; NC has never published data-center cities, and it has not said whether an Oceania server could follow after launch.

What NC confirmed, and on September 1
On September 1, 2026, Massively Overpowered published a direct response from NCSOFT to a question about Australian players: AION 2's global launch will not include an Oceania server. The outlet states it put the question to NCSOFT after raising it on its podcast, and quotes the studio's answer verbatim. In the same reply NC reaffirmed the four server regions the global service will run at the October 5, 2026 launch: North America, South America, Europe and Japan, alongside continued support for the existing Korea and Taiwan builds.
That list matches what NC has said before rather than changing it. The point of the statement is what is absent: at no stage — the April 2026 global announcement, the June 5 launch press release, the August 7 community stream, or the gamescom date reveal — has an Oceania or Australian server appeared on an official list. What was previously an omission is now an explicit confirmation.
The regions as they stand:
- North America — split into two clusters, NA West and NA East, per the August 7, 2026 community stream.
- South America.
- Europe — described on that stream as Central Europe.
- Japan. NC's April 2026 announcement named Japan specifically; the June 5, 2026 launch press release used the broader word "Asia", and this statement narrows it back to Japan.
The five named servers behind those regions — NA West, NA East, South America, Central Europe and Japan — come from NC's first global community stream on August 7, 2026, which also stated there is no region locking between them. That is a statement about moving between the five global servers, not about connecting to them from a fifth continent.
What NC suggested for Australian and New Zealand players
NC's own answer to the question of what Oceania players should do points at a different service entirely: it noted that the Taiwanese version of AION 2 supports English. That is the studio's suggestion, not this site's recommendation, and it needs two caveats stated plainly.
First, the Taiwan build is part of the Korea/Taiwan service that has been live since November 19, 2025. It is a separate service from the global launch — separate servers, separate store, separate progression — and no account, character or purchase transfer between the two has been announced. Anything built there stays there.
Second, that service is region/IP-restricted. NC's statement does not say whether Australian or New Zealand players can sign up for it legitimately from home, and this site does not recommend bypassing official region restrictions with VPNs or region-masking tools, which can violate the terms of service and risk account action.
The practical alternative inside the global service is the Japan region, which is the nearest of the four to Oceania. NC has not published data-center cities for any region, so we are not going to quote a latency figure it has never given. Our download and servers guide tracks the region list and will carry any routing policy NC publishes before launch.
What is still unconfirmed
As of September 2, 2026, NC has not posted this to its EN-US announcements board, its Steam news hub or the NC newsroom — it exists as a press statement given to one outlet, quoted directly. We are treating it as an official NC statement because it is attributed to the studio verbatim, but readers should note it is not a notice, and the wording that follows is a summary of a short reply rather than a published policy document.
Open questions:
- Whether an Oceania server is planned for any point after launch. NC's statement addresses the launch line-up only; it does not say the region is ruled out permanently, and no timeline has been given either way.
- Real-world latency from Australia and New Zealand to the Japan region. NC has never published data-center cities, so no ping figure can be quoted from a primary source.
- Whether the global service will be region-locked by IP at all. NC has still not published a formal region-lock or routing policy for the global servers — the August 7 stream said there is no region locking between the five servers, but that statement covers the global cluster, not access from outside its four regions.
- Whether Australian or New Zealand players can create an account on the Taiwan service without falling foul of that service's own regional restrictions. NC's answer points at the Taiwanese version but does not address eligibility, payment or verification.
Nothing in this statement changes an announced date. Founder's Pack Early Access still runs September 30 to October 4, the free Launch Scale Test still runs September 17-18, and the free-to-play launch is still October 5, 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Will AION 2 have an Oceania server at launch?
No. NCSOFT confirmed in a statement published on September 1, 2026 that the AION 2 global launch will not include an Oceania server. The global service runs four regions: North America, South America, Europe and Japan, alongside the existing Korea and Taiwan builds.
Which AION 2 server should Australian and New Zealand players use?
Within the global service, Japan is the nearest of the four regions to Oceania. NCSOFT's own suggestion in the same statement was that the Taiwanese version of AION 2 supports English — but that is the separate Korea/Taiwan service, live since November 19, 2025, with its own servers, its own store and no announced transfer to or from the global version.
Does the Taiwan version of AION 2 support English?
Yes, according to NCSOFT. In its September 1, 2026 statement the studio said the Taiwanese version supports English, offered as the option for players in the Oceania region. NCSOFT did not address whether players outside Taiwan can register for that service, which has been region and IP restricted since its November 19, 2025 launch.
Has NCSOFT ruled out adding an AION 2 Oceania server later?
No. The September 1, 2026 statement covers the launch line-up only. NCSOFT did not say an Oceania server is permanently ruled out, and it did not give a timeline for adding one. As of September 2, 2026 there is no official plan for Oceania servers either way.
What are the AION 2 global server regions?
Four: North America, South America, Europe and Japan. The August 7, 2026 community stream broke those into five servers — NA West, NA East, South America, Central Europe and Japan — and stated there is no region locking between them. NCSOFT has not published data-center cities for any of the regions.
