Overview: the Elyos 1–10 journey
This first band is short and fast. As an Elyos, you begin imprisoned in Ishtar Castle in Poeta, escape, and make your way to the Dawn Legion Forward Base, which becomes your hub for the rest of the band. The single most important moment happens at level 5 — your Ascension, when you become a Daeva and gain your wings. By level 10 you reach the Dawn Legion Base proper, get your first proper gear, and unlock the first hideouts.
Your priority order is simple: follow the yellow main-story (Hero) quests for the bulk of your experience, take the Ascension quest the moment it appears at level 5, and once you hit level 10 start clearing the Verteron hideouts for materials and gear. Everything below is drawn directly from the game's own quest and dungeon tables.
Becoming a Daeva: the Ascension at level 5
At level 5 the main story hands you the quest "Fledgling Wings," which sends you to talk to Asahr in the Ascension Subspace. Completing it is your Ascension — the moment a mortal becomes a Daeva and gains flight. This is not optional and it is not a quest to skip or postpone: it gates the rest of your progression, opens your wings, and is the foundation every later system (Daevanion, stigmas, gear) builds on.
Take it as soon as it unlocks. If you out-level the surrounding quests by grinding, you can still come back for it, but the cleanest path is to let the main story walk you into it at level 5.
The level 1–10 main story checklist
Follow these Hero (main-story) quests in order — they carry you from Ishtar Castle to the Dawn Legion Base. Levels shown are the game's recommended level for each step:
- Lv 1Poeta — Infiltrate Ishtar Castle
- Lv 3Rosy-fingered Dawn — Talk to Silvar at Dawn Legion Forward Base
- Lv 3Making Yourself Useful — Talk to Eaetos at Dawn Legion Forward Base
- Lv 3Lost Supplies — Talk to Arisel at Dawn Legion Forward Base
- Lv 4Withered Tree Daminu — Talk to Nania at Dawn Legion Forward Base
- Lv 5The Power in the Lake — Talk to Daminu at Daminu Forest
- Lv 5Fledgling Wings — Talk to Asahr in Ascension Subspace (ascend to Daeva)
- Lv 6Shattered Sky Island — Talk to Nania at Dawn Legion Forward Base
- Lv 7Search Preparation — Talk to Nania at Dawn Legion Forward Base
- Lv 8Drakana Heist — Talk to Nania at Migzatu Brigade Supply Depot
- Lv 9Brigade Base Neutralization — Talk to Caelid at Dawn Legion Forward Base
- Lv 10Dawn Legion — Wake up in the Dawn Legion Recovery Room
- Lv 10All Geared Up — Talk to Nania at Dawn Legion Base
In this opening stretch there is almost no field side-questing to chase — your experience comes from the main story plus the Ascension at level 5. The only other quests available this early are the hideout "Exploration" quests, which are tied to specific sealed dungeons and only become worthwhile at their recommended level 10 (covered next), so don't go out of your way for them yet.
Hideouts to clear once you hit level 10
Hideouts are instanced sealed dungeons, and they're where your leveling power actually comes from. They're recommended at level 10 in this band and sit in the Cantas Valley area around the Dawn Legion Base. A first clear pays out generously — for example, your first Cantas Valley hideout gives 15,000 Kina, 500 Enhance Stones (the enchant material), 2 Daevanion Crystals (to advance your Daevanion board), plus a wing material, a statue scrap and a clear title. The level-10 Elyos-side hideouts are:
- Poacher's Den — Natural caves in the cliffs of the Cantas Valley, taken over by poachers.
- Mysterious Mushroom Cave — A colony of giant mushrooms deep in the Cantas Valley.
- Cave of the Desperate — Where defeated Guardians hid from the Balaur.
- Lupyllini Habitat — A cave in the secluded reaches of the Cantas Valley.
- Chilly Hideout — A refuge used by those undergoing Sura mutation.
Each hideout is a one-time clear — there's no daily or weekly reset, so simply work through them as they unlock and bank the rewards once. They're the most efficient power-per-minute in the band and feed directly into the enchanting step below.
Gear and your first enchants
Through this band your gear comes from three places: main-story and side-quest rewards, the starter gear handed to you at the Dawn Legion Base (the "All Geared Up" quest at level 10), and the basic vendors at the base. Always equip the highest item-level pieces you have in every slot — your Gear Score is simply the sum of your equipped item levels plus enchant levels, so even small upgrades add up.
Once you're clearing hideouts you can begin enchanting. Early gear enchants are cheap and, at the low tiers, succeed 100% of the time — they cost Kina plus Enhance Stones, and you get Enhance Stones in bulk straight from the hideouts you're already running (that single first clear hands you 500). So the loop is simple: clear hideouts, bank Enhance Stones, and push your gear — weapon first, then armor. (Higher-grade accessories later also need a slot-specific Enhance Scroll, but your starter gear does not.) You won't be near the Gear Score 1000 needed for Krao Cave Normal yet — that's the goal across the next bands — but every +1 here is progress toward it.
What's next
By level 10 you should have ascended, equipped your Dawn Legion starter set, and cleared a couple of Cantas Valley hideouts. From here the main story pushes deeper into the Cantas Valley campaign and the pace of gear and enchanting picks up sharply — including the strongholds that supply your belt Enhance Scrolls. Continue with the Elyos 10–25 leveling guide, where the Daevanion board and Stigmas unlock and your hideout materials start taking gear toward its first meaningful enchant levels.
Frequently asked questions
What level do you ascend (get wings) as Elyos in Aion 2?
Level 5. The main-story quest "Fledgling Wings" sends you to Asahr in the Ascension Subspace; completing it turns you into a Daeva and grants flight. Take it as soon as it appears — it gates later progression.
Where do Elyos start in Aion 2?
In Ishtar Castle in Poeta, as a prisoner. The opening quest "Poeta — Infiltrate Ishtar Castle" has you escape and reach the Dawn Legion Forward Base, which is your hub through level 10.
Should I do hideouts while leveling 1–10?
Yes, once they're recommended at level 10. Hideouts are instanced sealed dungeons whose first clears give Kina, Enhance Stones (your enchant material) and Daevanion Crystals (for the Daevanion board), plus wing/statue materials and a title — the best power-per-minute in the band and the source of your first enchants.
How much Gear Score do I need for Krao Cave?
Krao Cave Normal requires a minimum Gear Score of 1000 (Exploration mode is 200, Hard is 2400). You won't reach 1000 during levels 1–10 — it's the target you build toward across the next chapters by gearing and enchanting.
