AION 2 Server Pairings: NC Publishes Abyss and Rift Matchups, Same-Faction Pairs Allowed
NC's October 28, 2026 notice lists which AION 2 Global server is paired with which for the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts in Europe, NA East, NA West, South America and Asia. NC says pairings will be updated periodically and that the same faction may now be matched together; the Abyss tables include same-faction pairs, while the Rift tables pair Elyos servers with Asmodian ones.

What NC announced
On October 28, 2026 at 08:30 server time, NC posted "Server Matchmaking | October 28" to the official EN-US notice board. It names, for every region, which server each server is paired against in two modes: the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts. NC's example: if the Asmodian server Israphel is paired with the Elyos server Siel, every Israphel Asmodian who enters the Abyss meets Siel's Elyos. This is the Global-service successor to the launch lists we covered in launch servers and matchmaking.
Pair counts, as we tally them from the notice:
- Europe: 23 Abyss pairs and 23 Rift pairs.
- NA East: 9 Abyss pairs and 9 Rift pairs.
- NA West: 5 Abyss pairs and 5 Rift pairs.
- South America: 6 Abyss pairs and 6 Rift pairs.
- Asia: 10 Abyss pairs and 10 Rift pairs.
Same-faction Abyss pairs
The notable rule change is stated outright: NC says pairings will be updated periodically to keep combat balanced, and for that reason the same faction may now be matched together, with Asmodian versus Asmodian given as an example. The Abyss tables do contain such pairs. In Europe, for instance, Triniel (Asmodian) is paired with Lumiel (Asmodian), and Yustiel (Elyos) with Fregion (Elyos). By our count, 13 of Europe's 23 Abyss pairs and 25 of all 53 Abyss pairs across the five regions are same-faction.
The Rift tables are different: every Rift pair lists one Elyos server against one Asmodian server. NC does not explain why the two modes are handled differently, and it does not say how often pairings will change, only that they will be updated periodically and that today's pairing may be replaced.
How to use the lists, and one typo
Find your server in the tables for your region; the same server name can appear in several regions, so read the region heading first. Players who moved or plan to move using NC's server transfer rules should check the destination's pairing before paying for an extra slot, because NC says pairings can change.
One table entry looks like a typo. The Asia Abyss list gives a server as "Fergion" in pair 7, alongside Azphel; every other list spells the server Fregion. We read it as Fregion, but NC has not corrected it, so treat that line as unconfirmed.

Frequently asked questions
What is AION 2 server matchmaking?
It is NC's system for deciding which other server's players you meet in modes such as the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts. Each server is paired with one other server in the same region, and players from the two servers fight in those modes.
Can the same faction be paired together in AION 2?
Yes. NC's October 28, 2026 notice says the same faction may now be matched together, for example Asmodian versus Asmodian, and its Abyss tables include such pairs. The Rift tables list only Elyos servers against Asmodian servers.
Will my AION 2 server pairing change?
Probably. NC says it will update server pairings periodically to keep the combat balanced and that the current pairing may be replaced by a new challenger. It does not give a schedule.
Which regions have pairings in the October 28 notice?
Europe, NA East, NA West, South America and Asia. Europe has 23 pairs per mode, NA East 9, NA West 5, South America 6 and Asia 10, by our count of the notice.
