AION 2 Payment Verification: The One-Time Card Check on Your First Founder's Pack Purchase

On July 22, 2026 at 16:00 UTC — the same day Founder's Packs went on sale on Steam and PURPLE — the AION 2 Global team published a second, quieter notice to the official notice board titled "One-time Verification Process." It is not a game announcement; it is a payment support document, and it matters to anyone whose first purchase gets bounced.

The substance is straightforward. Depending on the policies of your card issuer, your bank, and NC's payment provider Xsolla, your first payment may require a one-time verification step. NC states that users of global card brands including Visa, Mastercard, AMEX and JCB may be redirected to the card issuer's own secure verification page — the 3D Secure flow familiar from other online checkouts. Once you clear it, NC says later payments go through faster without re-entering your card number each time.

The reason this is worth a standalone note: the verification is not a password prompt. In the flow NC describes, the provider places a small pending authorization on the card, and you prove ownership by reading that exact amount off your own bank records and typing it back in. If you do not know where your bank shows pending authorizations, the step can look like a failed purchase when it is not.

NC published hard limits, and they are the part most worth knowing before you start. You get a total of 3 attempts to enter the amount. Enter it incorrectly all 3 times and the payment is cancelled automatically by the payment provider's fraud detection system — not by AION 2, and not recoverable by retrying the same session.

The verification amount is valid for 3 hours only. Miss that window and you cannot reuse it; you must start a new payment to be issued a fresh amount. Separately, the pending authorization itself is temporary: NC states that on successful verification the pending amount is cancelled and refunded immediately, and that any pending authorization not used for verification is cancelled automatically after 3 hours. NC adds the usual caveat that how quickly the reversal actually appears on your statement depends on your bank's policies, so a pending line lingering for a day or two is a bank-side timing matter rather than a second charge.

Practically, that means the safe sequence is to have your banking app, online banking, SMS alerts or e-mail notifications already open and confirmed working before you begin — not to start the payment and then go hunting for where the authorization shows up while a 3-hour clock runs.

Debit cards are supported, NC confirms, provided sufficient funds are available. Gift cards and prepaid cards are explicitly not supported — stated as a parenthetical in the notice, but it is a firm exclusion rather than a warning, and it is the single most likely reason a purchase fails outright for someone who was planning to pay with a store-bought card.

That constraint is worth reading alongside the July 8 Business Model notice, which set out the paid layer of the global version — the Membership, the shop and the Battle Passes. The same payment provider and the same verification step sit in front of all of it, so clearing this once at Founder's Pack purchase is what smooths the later transactions rather than something specific to the packs. NC's notice closes with three Q&As. If you cannot find the verification amount at all, the answer is to check how your card issuer notifies you of authorizations — app, online banking, SMS or e-mail — and to contact your bank if none of them surface it. NC does not offer a way to look the amount up from the game or store side, which is by design: the whole point of the check is that only the cardholder can see it.

If you entered the amount and the transaction was declined anyway, NC states plainly that this is the fraud detection system rejecting it, and routes you to Xsolla Customer Support at [email protected] rather than to AION 2 support. The third case is a currency mismatch — if the authorization landed on your account in a currency other than USD, the verification screen has a dropdown where you select the currency it was actually authorized in. If your currency is not listed, that is again an Xsolla support matter.

As of July 30, 2026 this notice remains live and unamended on the official board, and NC has published no follow-up or correction to it. Nothing in it changes the Founder's Pack pricing, contents, or the September 30 advance access start — it governs the checkout step only.
