AION 2 Patch Notes — September 3, 2026 (Emergency Maintenance)
An unscheduled hour of maintenance, announced the same morning, aimed entirely at Abyss boss fights. The combat-reset distance is greatly widened so a boss no longer drops combat when moved a long way, bosses can move smoothly even when surrounded, and after ten minutes of combat the boss starts taking increased damage — three changes attacking the same problem of fights that stalled or dragged. Contribution rewards for Artifact and boss kills now reach every character on the map at the moment of the kill, ranked by class, and Dimensional Core HP falls 30% in the Lower Abyss and 20% in the Middle Abyss. A Special Daeva Supply Chest was paid as compensation. Translated from the official Korean notice.

Maintenance window
An unscheduled maintenance, announced the same morning it ran and separate from the regular Wednesday cadence. The whole patch is aimed at one problem: Abyss boss fights that were dragging on, resetting when the boss was kited too far, or stalling when the boss could not physically move through the crowd around it.
| Date and time | September 3, 2026 (Thu), 16:30 – 17:30 KST (1 hour) |
| Impact | The game could not be played for the duration. |
| Status | Completed — the note was updated to confirm normal service. |
The note adds the usual caveats that the window could be extended depending on progress, or opened early if the work finished ahead of schedule.
Abyss
The entire content of the maintenance:
- The combat-reset distance of Abyss boss monsters is greatly widened, so that combat is maintained even when the boss is moved a much longer distance.
- Abyss boss monsters are improved so they can move smoothly even when surrounded by other characters.
- To ease the problem of Abyss boss fights running on for a long time, the damage a boss monster takes is increased once 10 minutes have passed since combat began.
- When you have contributed to defeating an Artifact or a boss monster in the Abyss, contribution rewards by class ranking can now be obtained by characters located on the same map at the moment of the kill.
- The HP of Lower Abyss Dimensional Cores is reduced by 30% compared to before.
- The HP of Middle Abyss Dimensional Cores is reduced by 20% compared to before.

Frequently asked questions
What changed for Abyss bosses in the AION 2 September 3, 2026 emergency maintenance?
Three changes target the same problem. The combat-reset distance is greatly widened, so a boss stays in combat even when moved much further than before. Bosses are improved so they can move smoothly when surrounded by other characters, rather than being blocked in place. And once ten minutes have passed since combat began, the boss takes increased damage, which is described as a measure to ease fights that were running on for a long time.
How much was Dimensional Core HP reduced in AION 2?
Lower Abyss Dimensional Cores lost 30% of their HP compared to before the maintenance, and Middle Abyss Dimensional Cores lost 20%.
How do Abyss contribution rewards work after the September 3 hotfix?
If you contributed to defeating an Artifact or a boss monster in the Abyss, contribution rewards by class ranking can now be obtained by characters who were on the same map at the moment of the kill, rather than being limited as before.
What compensation was given for the AION 2 September 3 emergency maintenance?
One Special Daeva Supply Chest (Rare) (Soul-bound), claimable between 18:00 on September 3 and 18:00 on September 4, 2026.
