AION 2 Patch Notes — January 21, 2026: Season 2 Launch
The Season 2 launch update adds the Inheritance System, the Dying Dramata's Nest expedition, Chaotic Ereshranta Middle, a server-wide wardrobe, a new Scale Arcana slot, a dungeon retry feature, and a broad class-balance pass. Translated from the official Korean update note.

Season 2 — content
- Season ranking switches from cumulative to best-record, with class-based reward payout. Season 1 missions/shop/supply-requests close and Season 2 versions open (Season-1 wing/skin buyers can't re-buy in the Season-2 shop).
- New expedition “Dying Dramata's Nest” (Exploration / Conquest Normal), dropping Unstable Stigma Shards, the “Sealed Philosopher's Stone” (later unsealed into a Philosopher's Stone that opens an extra soul-engraving slot), new wings and a painting.
- Awakening Battle: new Despair and Hell difficulties and the “Tyrant's Hideout” / “Trajectory Archive” instances (top Extreme reward tiers slightly lowered).
- Subjugation: new “Tomb of Orcus” and “Fafnite Smeltery” (Season-1 instances retired); added Extreme/Despair/Hell difficulties.
- Battlefield: new “Snow Field Where the Storm Sleeps” (a capture-the-flag mode; Season-1 map retired); Arena/Battlefield participation now grants weekly Abyss Points.
- Nightmare: new bosses, split by season into Floor I (S1) / Floor II (S2) tabs with new statue cosmetics; new Unique/Heroic Draconic crafted gear.
Abyss & new systems
Abyss
- “Chaotic Ereshranta Middle” added — 7 hours/week, charged in 1-hour blocks via the “Abyss Middle Rift Stone” (a new conversion recipe). Guardian General Nahma now spawns 3× in the Lower zone, and Enraged Nahma 2× in the Middle.
- Artifact Capture added to the Middle (now 6 artifacts total across Lower/Middle); per-artifact Abyss-point bonus 5% → 2.5%; losing-faction PvP-resistance buffs increased.
- Honor-medal acquisition reworked: bosses drop “Proof of Hero” tokens by contribution rank (lowest ranks still get Silver Honor Fragments), convertible into Honor Medal Boxes with a chance at boss gear; gear purchases gated by Abyss rank; Abyss set effects consolidated (per-set PvE Abyss amp +1000 with PvP/PvE trade-offs).
Inheritance System (new)
Using an “Inheritance Stone,” transfer a source item's enhancement/breakthrough stage and soul-engraving stats onto another item of the same grade and slot (weapons must match class and weapon type). The source item is consumed; preset-equipped gear can't be used. Success counts are limited per season (with success-scaling odds) and reset each season; the target's attunement attempts reset on success. Inheritance Stones are converted from Inheritance Stone Fragments, themselves from Unique/Heroic gear.
Wardrobe & other systems
- Wardrobe goes server-wide: owned appearances and dyes are shared across a server's characters (Special-grade skins stay per-character), with hood-type outfits added and repeatable Special-skin purchases.
- New “Scale” Arcana slot added (rewards from a future Transcendence); new attunement options for weapons (Damage Amplification) and armor.
- Expedition/Transcendence/Sanctuary gain a party-leader Retry feature and final-boss kill counts (Conquest 35, Transcendence 28, charged Wednesdays 05:00); Mission simultaneous limit 5 → 10.
Class Changes
Common
- Charge skills (Retribution, Rushing Smash, Gale Arrow, Deadshot, Hellfire, Elemental Fusion, Jointstrike, Bolt): improved charge visuals, and groggy damage now scales with charge stage.
- Armor of Protection, Warding Shield, Sixth Sense, Eye of Vigilance, Empyrean Lord's Protection, Crossguard: on-block/evade HP-recovery cooldown 5s → 3s; passives keep scaling above level 30.

- Promotion: 3 new emotes, bunny-themed armor sets, the “Mystic Light” weapon skins, the AION2 Season 2 Starter pack, new pets/wings, and new Daeva Passes (First Step's Blessing, New Wave, Paradise). Dyeable cosmetics lose their per-character purchase limit.
- Fixes: numerous Abyssal Forge / Shattered Arkanis / Krao Cave / Ferocious Horn Den / Vakron Sky Island boss fixes, race-chat now requires level 45, and item extraction now works even with a full cube.
